eqmod
A module for PostNuke
SourceForge Logo

I. Introduction

The eqmod project was created so that Everquest guilds would have a way to manage their guild via a web portal. There are some other solutions out there to do this. Most noteable are the new Legend's thing from Verant themselves, and Magelo. This project differs because it's free. You can use this software to your hearts content, and the only thign you'll have to pay for is a place to host it.

There are a couple of important things that should be pointed out. First, this project is in something I'm doing in my spare time, and spare time isn't something that I have a whole lot of. Because of that, progress will be slow and some things may not work as well as you had hoped. Fortuantly, this project is open to all, so you are welcome to fix and contribute back anything you want. The second thing I want to point out is that this project is in an alpha stage of development. For those unfamilarir with the term, it basically means that the module is still in the design and proof-of-concept stages. Things could change at any moment, and at this point, I'm not making it easy on people to install/upgrade the system.

II. What's happening with eqmod?

Right now, not a whole lot of anything. I've put a hold on new features until I get the module ported over to PostNuke. PostNuke has proven itself to be of a much higher caliber than PHPNuke has, so I will be making the chnage and never looking back. Postnuke is much more flexiable for module developers and imo, will eventually win out over it's Predecessor. I apoligize ahead of time to those of you that are using the phpnuke version.

The above mentioned port to PostNuke, also includes a paradigm shift. Previously, the software was deigned to be a multi-guild management system. Meaning, one site could conceivably provide a place for multiple guilds to perform guild managment functions. The module will now shift to a single-guild paradigm. This software was always meant to provide guild management resources to needy eq guilds, and experience has taught me that guilds usually (read always) want to run this software on their own site. So to that end, alot of complexity needed to handle multiple guilds, is being chopped out and done away with. The end result for all of you *should* be that you are more likely to see frequent updates to the software.

Roadmap to version 0.3.1

The conversion itself is complete, and beta testing has started. You can see the new module in action at http://www.lotuscult.com. There are only a few lingering issues before an official release will happen.
